MERIDIAN, ID — July 17, 2025
At the Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition meeting on Thursday, July 17th, the Idaho State Elks recognized three outstanding students for their creative and impactful contribution to youth drug prevention.
Susie Stertz, Drug Awareness Program (DAP) State Chairman, along with ElRoy the Elk (portrayed by Larry Hovorka of Caldwell Elks Lodge), proudly presented awards to the winners of the Elks Drug Awareness Video Contest: Caylee May, Syler Maben, and Nevin Lusombe, all students at Mountain View High School in Meridian.
The winning video, titled “Throw Away Drugs, Not Your Future,” delivers a strong message about the importance of making healthy choices and staying drug-free. As part of their recognition, each student received a certificate, a $100 prize, and a special Elks Challenge Coin—symbolizing their commitment to a drug-free future.
The Elks Drug Awareness Program continues to support young people across Idaho by empowering them to make positive decisions and raise awareness through creative outlets like video, art, and writing.
Congratulations to Caylee, Syler, and Nevin for their outstanding work and inspiring message!
